Welded Wire Mesh (GBW) Galvanized Before Welding

Welded wire mesh that is Galvanized Before Weld (GBW) is economical and ideal for many uses. Comparing with GAW welded wire, this galvanized before weaving (GBW) fence is an economical mesh and fence. It is widely used in chicken pens, garden fence, craft projects and many other uses.

Welded Wire Mesh (GBW) Galvanized Before Welding

The wires used in the welding process are hot dipped galvanized wire when they are welded into a variety of mesh sizes. The gauge and mesh sizes are decided by the final use of the product. Smaller meshes made with lighter gauge wires are ideal for making cages for small animals. The heavier gauges and meshes with larger openings make good fences.

GBW products have one disadvantage which there is no galvanizing protection on the welding spots. During the welding process, the galvanizing at the weld spots, where the wires intersect, is burned away. So that this places lost the galvanizing protection against rust and corrosion. This can promote a more rapid decay, as rust eats into the unprotected steel. If the mesh or fence is not exposed to the corrosion environment, this is not as much of a problem. Heavier gauge wire will last longer due to the fact that it will take longer for rust to eat through the wire.
